FaultPro Installation Error: crtslv.dll failed to register (HRESULT -2147010895)

FaultPro Installation Error: crtslv.dll failed to register (HRESULT -2147010895)

During FaultPro installation, users may see this error: Module C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\crtslv.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895.

This error occurs because Crystal Reports (used by FaultPro) is a 32-bit component that depends on the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable (x86). Even on 64-bit Windows, the 32-bit runtime is required. If it’s missing, the crtslv.dll registration fails with a side-by-side error. To resolve this issue follow these steps:

1) Close the FaultPro installer
2) Download the required package: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347
When installing Crystal Reports, make sure it is the x86 version as no other version will work.
3)  Run the installer as Administrator. If prompted, select 'Repair' (if already installed), otherwise choose 'Install'.
4) Rerun the FaultPro installer (choose the version for your Windows platform, e.g., 64-bit Windows).

At this point when you run the 64bit FaultPro installer you should get a pop-up to confirm installation.

NOTE: when following the steps from the FaultPro setup screen, it may fail to install Dot Net Framework 3.5, if that happens you will need to download it manually from the internet and run it that way instead. you can find the download here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21
