TR2 Ink Upgrade Process

Upgrade Procedure:

Please follow the procedures below to upgrade your TrueVIS VG/SG series printer.

  1. STEP 1:Prepare the items required for the upgrade.

    • Have your new TR2 ink (in the same configuration as your current VG/SG), cleaning liquid pouch, bottle of cleaning liquid, wiper and tray pads (3) on hand before upgrading.
  2. STEP 2:Perform a test print and check the condition of print heads.

    • Perform a test print and check whether nozzle drop-out occurs.
    • If nozzle drop-out occurs, clean the print heads (normal cleaning). Refer to "Chapter 2 Basic Operation/Basic Printing Method" in User’s Manual for details.

      If nozzle drop-out cannot be resolved by cleaning, cancel the upgrade and contact your authorized Roland DG dealer or service engineer.
  3. STEP 3:Install the specified firmware and replace the ink.

    • VG
    • SG
    • Download "VG_Ink_Conversion_EN" below and unzip it.
      The following are included:
      • VGFirm (VGFirm.exe)
      • Manual for ink switching (VG-640-INS2-TR2_EN.pdf)
      • Description of changes in User’s Manual (VG-640_SUP2_EN.pdf)
    • First, perform manual cleaning and replace the wiper and tray pads according to the ink switching manual.
    • Next, execute "VGFirm" and perform the installation.
    • Last, replace the ink by referring to the User Manual for ink switching.

  4. STEP 4:Update VersaWorks RIP to Latest Version.

    In order to use TR2 ink as well as the new features made possible with the firmware upgrade, the latest version of VersaWorks 6 version is required.

    Many factors, such as connection type and network traffic, may affect download speed.
    The following table provides estimated download times for different file sizes at typical connection speeds. Your actual download time may vary.
