Resetting IP Address on Tabletop Mechatronics Micro 820 PLCs

If you can no longer connect to one or more of your tabletop mechatronics Micro 820 PLCs, the IP address of the PLC may have been changed and needs to be reset.

You may be having this issue if you cannot connect to your PLC when you connect the PLC to your computer via your ethernet cable. As is the case in the picture below, none of the PLCs are connected to RSLinx even though the PLC is plugged into the computer via ethernet.
RSLinx showing none of the PLCs are connected
The first thing to double check is that your computer's IP address is set correctly. Depending on your system your installation guide will either tell you to set your computer's IP address to either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.50.1. Our system is set up to connect via 192.168.0.1. The screenshot below shows our computer's adapter settings set properly to connect to our Micro820 PLCs.
The ethernet adapter settings to connect to the Micro820 PLC. You may need to try 192.168.50.1 as an alternative to the settings in this screenshot.
If you still cannot connect to the PLC after confirming the IP address above, or your IP address on your computer is set correctly already, you will need to try a different IP address. The IP address to change it to is 169.254.0.100. See the image below.
Changing the IP address to connect to the PLC
After changing the IP address to 169.254.0.100, refresh RSLinx by unchecking Autobrowse and rechecking it, or clicking on AB_ETHIP-1, Ethernet and refreshing it. If you see a new PLC showing, you successfully connected to it. See the screenshow below.
The PLC has successfully reconnected to the computer after changing the computer's IP address to 169.254.0.100
Now right click on the new Micro820 that is showing and click Module Configuration.
Right click on the PLC and click Module Configuration
Now go to the Port Configuration tab and change it from Dynamic to Static. Note that some PLCs will not give you this option.

Change the IP address back to what your Tabletop Mechatronics installation guide requires. For 87-TMS1 the address typically ends in .201. For 87-TMS2 it is .202. For 87-TMS3 it should be .203. Once you click Apply and Ok, it will ask you if you wish to continue. Click Yes.
In this example, the IP address has been reset to 192.168.0.201 for the 87-TMS1
Next, go back to your ethernet adapter on your computer and change your IP address back to the original 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.50.1 as in the image below.

The IP address of the computer has been reset back to the original address specified by the installation guide.
Now, refresh your RSLinx. If all was successful, you should see your PLC reconnect like in the image below.
The PLC has successfully reconnected to RSLinx
Now right click on the 169.254.xxx.xxx PLC and remove it from RSLinx, like in the image below.

Now remove the 169.254.xxx.xxx PLC from RSLinx
