Connecting Monitor to uPrint Single Board Computer (SBC)

Connecting Monitor to uPrint Single Board Computer (SBC)

This is the process to connect a monitor to the Single Board Computer (SBC) on the uPrint series. This is done to troubleshoot suspected hard drive issues or failure.

Step 1 - When power is restored the uPrint starts up, the lights and fans inside are working, but the LCD is blank as seen in the picture below.

Step 2 - Turn the power switch to off and unplug the machine from the wall.

Step 3 - Remove the three screws from the panel, circled in red, in the picture below.

Step 4 - Before lowering the back panel release the feeder tubes and either snip the filament or depress the press-to-release fittings, as shown below, and pull filament through giving you slack.

Step 5 - Connect monitor to the VGA port on the Single Board Computer (SBC). See picture below.

Step 6 - Plug machine back in to the wall. Move the power switch to the on position.

Step 7 - The monitor should display a boot process. Allow the process to run until you see a message that says boot failed or hard drive not found. If you receive either of those messages then the hard drive needs to be replaced. If the system boots properly then you either need check the LCD cable or replace the LCD.

Step 8 - If the hard drive needs to be replaced remove the old hard drive and insert the new one.
