Accessing the laser tube in a Universal Laser Desktop System

Accessing the Laser Tube on a VLS Desktop

In the event you need to access the laser tube in the back of your desktop laser system (to reseat or replace it), follow these instructions:

1 - Power down the system. This step is critical. If you disconnect the laser tube while power is on it will damage the electronics in the system.

2 - Using the included allen keys, remove the back cover from the laser system by removing the two screws - one on the left side and one on the right side of the cover. The image below shows the left screw being removed.

3 - With the cover removed, you'll see the laser tube in the back of the system. You can remove the laser tube by removing the two screws (Labeled as #1 in the image below), then disconnecting the laser's cable (labeled as #2 in the image below). Again, NEVER disconnect the cable with the system powered on.

4 - With the laser tube removed, the laser system will look like the image below. The arrows in the image below are pointing to the mounting blocks that the laser tube hangs on.

5 - To reinstall the laser tube, locate the "V" groove along the upper (#3 in the image below) and lower (#2 in the image below) parts of the laser cartridge base plate and the alignment plate (#1 in the image below) at the end of the base plate. Pick up the laser cartridge by the ends and mount the cartridge onto the mounting blocks shown in step b by placing the upper ā€œVā€ groove on top of the mounting blocks. Slide the cartridge to the right or left as necessary until the mounting holes in the top of the laser line up with the mounting holes in the top of the laser mounting block. Attach the two mounting screws into the mounting blocks to secure the tube in the system and replace the back cover.
